What is Laser Tag?
As you head in for laser tag, you'll suit up in a vest with sensors and an attached laser gun. On that vest, you'll find several target areas. A blast from a laser gun will light up those sensors, scoring a point for the person who hit you. During the game, you'll have the run of an arena filled with obstacles that allow you to hide, stage an ambush, or duck out of sight and protect your vest. You can strive for a high score or simply enjoy running around with friends and family!
The Rules of Laser Tag
The basic rules of laser tag are simple: head into the arena and try to target your friends and family members with your laser gun while trying not to get hit yourself. However, a few simple safety rules keep the game fun and decrease risk to everyone in the arena.
Do not run in the laser tag arena. The dark environment and many obstacles increase the risk of tripping and falling!
Keep your hands on your laser gun at all times to help keep it stable and protected.
Do not cover the sensors.
Do not climb the obstacles in the arena.
Listen to any instructions given by event staff since they can help keep you safe.
With these simple rules, you can avoid injury and make sure that everyone has a great experience.
Tips for Laser Tag
Do you want to maximize your score while in the laser tag arena? Try these tips.
Aim to get high (without climbing on the obstacles). If you're high up in the arena, you'll have a better view, which means you'll be better positioned to target others moving around you.
Don't stand still! When you stay in one place, you make it easier for other players to sneak up on you or target you. By staying in motion, you also get a better idea of where other people are in the arena.
Slim down your profile as much as you can. Present your sides, not the target areas, whenever possible.
Keep shooting. You can't score points for a shot you didn't take!
Get to know the arena. Come back regularly to play laser tag. The better you know the arena, the better you can prepare to avoid your opponents and make the most of the space.
Take advantage of the cover. Use the obstacles to help cover up the sensors on your vest, preventing others from targeting you.
Pay attention to what's going on around you. Stay aware of the movements of other players, including the sounds they're making. Don't get distracted by a specific target!
